Decorating Update: The Office

Today's post is yet another office makeover... a mini one. It's more like an update. We had a snow day yesterday, so I did a little painting, arranging, and decorating. You may already know this if you follow us on Instagram or facebook. (Please follow if you don't already!)

You see, Black Friday and Cyber Monday were pretty good to me this year. Two days ago my beautiful new floor rug arrived. As soon as I saw it on Overstock I knew I had to have it. AND I knew it was the right decorating direction for my office. I'm shooting for neutral cohesiveness with natural elements and gold and silver touches.

The dresser, which I use to stash all of my office supplies and goodies, used to be blue. Now, it's a high gloss black! Oooo la la. I would maybe categorize this as slightly art deco glam?  Art deco usually features geometric shapes and such. Although I wouldn't typically choose this style, I'm thrilled with how everything turned out and works together.

Updates include:
A restored black dresser with gold handles...

A restored black (was a nightstand) table...

A new, VERY SOFT (and pretty) rug...

A new pattern to admire...

A double duty ottoman (storage & seating)...

And a toddler on watch...

There are a few more switches on the agenda. Like, maybe a DIY mirror or different artwork for above the dresser. Also, maybe some cork tiles for behind my desk. OH! And I want to paint those french doors black! All in due time. For now, I'm more in love with this room as I ever have been.
