House Flipping - Part 5

The house is finished... and under contract. It was only on the market for 3 days!

It's mind boggling what a little bit of love and remodeling can do to an older, run down home. When I found out the the house was finished, I dropped in for a few pictures. I'm not really sure what I was expecting to see, but was utterly impressed with the outcome. The house is so beautiful now! Nearly every surface has been refinished, yet it still holds all of the original charm from when it was built back in the 1920's.

Today, I will share with you some of the pictures and then later this week I will be back with some more. Let's get started!

Here are a few "before" pictures to refresh your memory. Remember all of the studs and construction dust? The upstairs is a completely new addition to the home and adds two bedrooms, a bathroom, linen closet, and a nook.

Not too bad, huh? Can you picture yourself reading a book on an over sized chair? Or maybe playing Lego's with your children? I sure could. Maybe even an study space? Lots of options here.

I've always been fond of homes with bedrooms on the second floor. The house I grew up in was setup like that. We did most of our together things like eating breakfast and watching television downstairs, while we spent more time individually upstairs in our own rooms.

Here is a before picture of the stairs and dining area.

Gosh, even just fresh paint does wonders!

The staircase has become a feature with the use of these iron spindles.

Built-in shelving for both function and charm. Another favorite. I think if it were my house I would probably opt for making this something other than a dining room. I would probably add two comfy chairs with a small round table in between and use the area for having morning coffee, reading and quiet time.

The living room is right off of the dining room and the front entry. Here is a before shot of the fireplace.

Can you spot the difference? No more brass!

The main floor also hosts two more bedrooms. This is the smaller bedroom which has a charming french door.

This next one is a shot of the master which has refinished hardwoods as opposed to the other bedrooms which have new carpeting. I LOVE how the sunlight reflects up off of them. So pretty!

Stay tuned for to see how the kitchen, bathrooms and exterior turned out!
