Our upstairs living room was one of the first spaces in our home to actually feel complete, although I'm not sure I will ever be completely "finished" with any room in my home. I'm always switching things up. I thought I'd drop in to show you how cozy it is during the winter months -- the fire place, blankets and even my new picture frame are warming things up around here.
Real quick, here is our entry. You walk right past this little section upon entering the living room, so I thought I'd include it. I reset this shortly after the new year, so it is a bit basic for now. I'm on a quest to have an updated "house tour" page. In the upcoming months I will be sharing the various rooms of our home as I take the house tour photos. I feel like a bit of a bad blogger because I'm realizing that many areas haven't even made their way on the blog yet. Ooops!
One thing that I really love about our living room is the corner fireplace. It allows the room to have two focal points that don't compete with each other. I talked about that in my post about the essentials of a cozy living room. The stone on the fireplace is dry-stack which means that there isn't any grout showing between each stone. Our basement fireplace is the same, just with different stone. I distressed and stained the mantel myself. You can see the detail in picture at the end of the post.
Now how about the best part of the room? My little munchkins. I took this photograph right after Blakely was born and gifted it to our families for Christmas.
I love using black and white photos in our home because they go with any color scheme, so of course I had to frame one for myself. I love this white wood frame that I found at Michael's. It puts off a cottage/beachy vibe which brightens and warms up the living room even more!
Have a cozy, warm weekend!
