Wedding Showers instead of Rain Showers

Every time I look at my calendar I am completely shocked that it's already the end of June. Where has the time gone? I've been really enjoying having my two boys at home with me, but honestly it doesn't even feel much like summer vacation yet. I'm not kidding when I say this, but it seems as though it has rained this entire month. Anyone else feel that way?

Along with the actual rain showers, I hosted a wedding shower  (with a few others) for my niece (which I know makes me sound old) this past weekend. We rented my neighborhood clubhouse for the event and since this was my 4th event in the clubhouse, I felt like a seasoned pro.

I've discovered that making party decor is probably my favorite use for my Silhouette Portrait that I bought last winter. I used it to whip up cute penguins for my son's 4th birthday. This time around I used it to make a fun banner out of simple card stock and scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby, super cheap but totally did the trick.

One side had their wedding date and the other side said "Mr. & Mrs."  We ended up adding a removable "to be" to the Mrs. part since it was a more accurate representation of their status! :)

I also used the Silhouette to cut out hearts & labels for the food table. These were made out of the left over scraps from the banner. I figured I might as well use up all of the paper.

The rest of the decor consisted of colorful table cloths, burlap table runners (reused from a recent wedding), mason jars filled with baby's breath, a special chair for the bride to be, balloons, and pictures.

The entry table was just a sneak preview of what was to come during the rest of the party. Toilet paper? Nail polish? Gifts? ;)

Oh, and we can't forget about this adorable cupcake display, inspired by Pinterest.

We served brunch, played a few party games, opened gifts and devoured cupcakes. We played "How Well Do You Know the Bride?" with a bunch of facts about the bride such as "How old is she?" (she's 5 by the way, LEAP YEAR Birthdays.  The guests also played "He Said, She Said" where they tried to guess if it was either the bride or the groom who stated the various statuses that were pulled from Instagram or Facebook.

And the last game is my personal favorite, and I believe should ALWAYS be a part of a wedding/bridal shower... The Toilet Paper Wedding Dress. We divided the group up into three teams and each team had to nominate a model. The teams were given two rolls of toilet paper to use to create the brides dream wedding gown. So much fun for all ages!

And on a more personal note, I just rearranged my office and now I feel super productive. Finally. I've been in a dry spell... but get ready because I've had a few things up my sleeve that I'm dying to share!
